CALLED TO ORDER:

The General Membership Meeting was called to order at 1400 hrs by President Steve Eggert.

ARTICLE 8 – OVERTIME:

Steve Eggert handed out a 12 page document detailing the changes to Article 8: Overtime.  These changes go into effect March 1, 2008.  The document incorporates the new and old language offering a review of changes to the contract.  Highlights include the following:

Changes to this section were reviewed and discussed by all.

NEW BUSINESS:

Mark Rorvik requested the Guild’s position on relinquishing supervision of the Court Screeners to Facilities.  Mark explained that the Court Security Screeners are employed by Facilities and the Court Security Sergeants provide cursory supervisory function, such as attendance.  Mark explained that this process of having limited supervision functions, over personnel from another Department, is problematic and could be better handled if handed over to facilities.

Steve commented that the Sheriff’s Office has the right tools at their disposal to address these concerns and that KSCO is better equipped to handle the matter.  Simply giving up the right for this work is not in the best interests of public safety and would likely create more problems rather than solving them.

Several Members agreed with this assessment that this would not be a good course to pursue.

Don Dougherty requested clarification on what constitutes “service” when subpoenaed for Court.  Don Explained that some north end deputies had been sent subpoenas via Email by a DPA; one of who planned a vacation. Steve clarified that sending an email does not constitute “service” but added that Deputies are required to notify the Court of anticipated vacations.

Don Dougherty also complained about service at the Georgetown garage stating that a Deputy had to take his patrol car in three separate times for a starter problem.   Ron Kierce advised to notify him of the car numbers and problems and he can monitor the situation.

ADJOURNED:

The General Membership Meeting adjourned at 1530 hrs.
