I am extremely proud to earn the endorsement from the King County Police Officers Guild. Your vote of confidence in my leadership and support of our continued partnership working for public safety is the strongest message I can deliver in my campaign for re-election. I promise to continue to work on issues that matter to the deputies on patrol and the detectives who work case investigations each and every day. Together we have drastically reduced the number of auto thefts in King County by targeting repeat offenders. We are now going after repeat burglars with a similar approach. Together we are taking a targeted number of criminals who commit a majority of the crimes off the street, leading to increased public safety. I promise to continue our successful partnership and expand it into additional areas of law enforcement. Since being elected in 2007, I have regularly met with your Guild leadership to continue an open dialogue between the officers on the frontline of law enforcement and the deputies in my office. I recognize that my office’s relationship with the Guild is independent of the relationship with the administration. During my meetings with Guild leadership I have worked to address issues regarding assaults on officers, interpreting new court decisions in the field that affect searches of suspects and the challenges of policing in times of budget reductions. I promise to continue this open communication so we can tackle these challenges together. As the 2010 election approaches, I am proud to have the King County Police Officers Guild stand with me.
